Hi Sophie, welcome back from the wilds of Tenby (LOVELY, isn't it?) I wonder if you did much sand-walking while away, as it's VERY difficult and stressful on the joints, and can aggravate any sore bits that weren't too good before you went. I've recently returned from near Tenby, where we did a LOT of walking dogs on wet...and dry sand, and I am still in pain now!! Anyway, here's hoping you feel much better very soon, Lxx

Hi Sophie

Don't panic just yet Scared !

It could be that the pain you are feeling in the hip area isn't actually the hip joint at all. It could quite possibly be trochanteric bursitis caused by the walking you have been doing. As Lylie says sandwalking is stressful on joints. Have a look at this link. I have this problem on and off and last year had a steroid injection directly into the bursa using ultrasound. Result ... all pain gone! I do have the occasional twinge but it's generally because I've been doing something silly!

My hip area became quite hot and inflamed and when pressed in a particular spot (top of thigh, below the hip, on the side) very painful. Might be worth having a word with your GP for further investigation. Hope you are able to sort something out soon.

Hi Sophie

Sorry to hear that you are in so much pain. If you did a lot of walking during your
hols you may have irritated it.

Tenby is a lovely place. Went there many many years ago when my daughters
were just toddlers.

Now do take care.

Love

Thank you for your lovely replies ladies , never really thought it could have been walking on the sand RollEyes , i didn't really walk far though as i am just not up to it now a days , its a lot better today ThumpUp , this disease is weird, one day you can be in a lot of pain and unable to move then the next it can settle down and you are fine again Confused , Lyn thanks for the information i have a very tender spot on my lower back its where they put the spinal block in , i mentioned it to my consultant last month but he said i wouldn't still have pain from the spinal block after 10 months , think its definitely from my hip as the pain comes round down in to the groin area as well,

Oh Sophie, so sorry!

Hip pain is the pits! And I remember the groin pain very well, it shoots into the groin. I also get it in the behind too actually so definitely worth investigating.

I am still getting relief from the steroid they did in October, so if they offer you one, try it!

Prayers,

Amanda

Hi Sophie

There isn't much left for me to say - everyone has given such great advice and ideas. I just wanted to send my love and a huge cyber hug and hope things get sorted out very quickly.

Lots of love
